To All my Nerdy Friends...

Today,
at work,
I busted out (are you ready for this?) THE QUADRATIC EQUATION. (I guess I have to do calculations at work every once in awhile but I don't think I've ever used the quadratic at work before. The last calculation I did was 2 months ago. I spent a whole Friday doing it and then sent it off to my boss and he said, "I really like the approach you took in estimating... It shows a lot of creativity and initiative." I glowed all weekend and then after more careful consideration, realized I did it wrong and would have to do it over. Oops.)

To all of you high school kids, one day, you too can be an airbag researcher and developer and be able to spit out the quadratic equation from memory. It's funny how without blinking I can recite "the opposite of b plus or minus the square root of the quantity b squared minus 4ac divided by 2a" but I can't remember if I locked my front door after I watered my flowers this morning :-(

To quote Vida, "As engineers, we are so brilliant but so useless!"
